Post Wedding Wednesday ... Goodbye SC hello Bahamas!

For our honeymoon R and I decided we wanted to do something we had never done before as a couple... however I wanted to go to Charleston for the weekend and he wanted to go to Florida and neither of us wanted to do what the other wanted ... Go Figure.  So after much arguing (on my part) and begging (on his) we came to a compromise... and by compromise i mean he wanted to go on a cruise and he finally talked me into getting onto a boat. Up until the minute we set sail I questioned my decision but I wouldn't change it for anything in the world! We took a four day cruise to the Bahamas and had the most amazing time!

Sorry if this picture offends you... I don't really care I am fully aware that me in a Bikini isn't everyone's cup of tea... and to that I say You can KISS MY ... you know where i'm going with that

Sadly i didn't manage to come back with a tan... but i didn't come back with a burn either so we will call that a success!

Until Next time...
Love Yall!

Erin Condren LIfe Planner... 2015 edition (Product Review)

SO I don't know how many of you reading this are like me (by that i mean in law school, hyper organized, or just a list maker) but I would be lost without my day planner. I write everything in that little sucker from homework assignments to meal plans, and even what i want to blog about in a given week. My planner never leaves my side and if i don't have it i find my days go much less smoothly.
With that said, I'm not one to mess with a good thing... when something works I tend to stick with it. Which is why for the past three years or so I've been using the Lilly Pulitzer agendas and I love them dearly. They are great!

But this year i decided that I needed a change... aka everyone seems to have these Erin Condren planners and I decided I wanted to see what they were all about. So i got online and I designed myself a planner... the experience was really easy the site is super simple and I was able to design one that suited me perfectly. Since I've been a Lilly girl for so long I thought I would also give you guys a comparison for any one else who is feeling a change. (Erin Condren is not paying me for my opinion... i just thought i would share it with yall anyway)

The agenda took about two weeks after i ordered it to ship... but it only took three days to get here after it shipped which is less than the 7-10 days the website said it would take. Win! And big plus it comes in a really cute box... I love cute mail

When you open the box there are all sorts of great things there to greet you... stickers, a perpetual calendar, some coupons, and some labels (none of which I ordered, however i am going to assume that since it was my first order maybe they included them ... who knows what i do know is that I'll be using my coupons to order a notepad and some more gift labels because they are totally adorable)

Under all the packaging, stuff, and bubble wrap was the most perfect planner i've ever laid eyes on... well from the outside anyway because it literally has my name on it... and the sight of that new last name still makes me kinda giddy inside (i hope that never stops... not gonna lie)

Ok so here's a side by side comparison. The agendas are similar in size. Which hopefully means the new one will fit perfectly in my tote or backpack just like my Lilly Does.

The Erin Condren planner is a good bit slimmer than the Lilly, which is mostly due to the fact that I elected to begin my new agenda in Jan. 15 and it is only a one year planner. This solves one of my biggest problems with the Lilly Planners. An 18 month planner begins in August of one year and ends in December of the next, which means that i either have to purchase a new agenda every august and waste 6 months of agenda, or i use the agenda fully and buy another one in January of the next year and waste the first six months. Neither option was one that i've ever really liked. Problem Solved with this one year planner :)

The Erin Condren Planner is really nicely built. The binding is metal and a spiral bind instead of the binding on the Lilly which has a tendency to separate if you aren't careful about how you bend it. The planner also comes with a clip in ruler that I think will be really helpful. Now to the inside.

The layout of this agenda is part of what drew me to it. I like the year calendar at the front, and the monthly view is pretty standard for all agendas.

The week view is my favorite part. I like how it's divided into three separate categories, especially since i have so much going on in my life. I won't use them for morning day and night however (and i'd really like it if they weren't labeled that way but we can't get everything we want) most likely i'll use them for School/work, Home, and Blog and that way i won't have to have a separate agenda/meal planner/ blog planner... like i do right now.

There are also a good many blank lines pages for notes
and a plethora of colorful stickers both written and blank

the back has a pocket folder thing for loose papers and such.

and then there is this really neat "zip" pouch... it's not really a zipper but i never know what to call those snappy things.

With that said I love my new Erin Condren planner and I can't wait to start using it in January. That seems like such a long time from now.

SO here's the comparison
Price wise both are a bit expensive : The Lilly Planner costs $28.00 and the Life Planner cost me around $50 with shipping.  (which is way more than i used to spend on planners but then again so is $28.00)
The Lilly only comes in an 18 month version which i find annoying... but it comes with really cute stickers which i like.
The Life Planner can be made in an 18 month version but I won't do that.

All in all... Both are great planners but for me at this stage in my life... with Law School and everything else i've got going on the Life Planner seems to be the right planner for me.

Sorry for the long and rambling review!
Until Next Time!

Welcome to Our Home!

Hey Ya'll! So Welcome to everyone who's reading this! I'm really excited to do this post, especially since I've spent a great deal of time over the past few months getting our home ready, decorated, and just the way I like it.

It's not quite perfect... but nothing ever is. I'm really happy with how everything is looking at the moment the master bedroom and the kitchen aren't included in this post because i'm not really happy with/ done with either of those rooms yet (promise as soon as i am I'll post pics) So here goes... Welcome to our home!

Our dining room is one of my favorite places... since our kitchen is so small I bought this shelf at target to make up for the storage we needed but didn't have. I also wanted to use as many of our wedding decorations in our home as possible so I've reused as much as a possibly could. The paper lanterns over the table are one of my favorite little touches in the main part of the apartment. I've got a few more in other parts of the house. The beautiful lantern on our table was a wedding gift from one of R's sweet cousins and I adore it. The runners are of course wedding decor that i couldn't bare to through away.

The living room here is large and wonderful, but right now it's pretty empty. The wall about the couch currently has our guest "book" hanging on it... and it looks so alone. I am patiently awaiting our wedding photos so it's not so alone i already have the frames picked out for the perfect gallery wall. The wall across from the couch has my Miami, London, and Paris posters that i've had since I went to college. They've been around but I just cant stand to let them go. We also have a patio with a huge sliding door but It's not decorated and theres no furniture so I'll save that for when there is.

Our guest bathroom is super cute! If i do say so myself. I love it, the bin is from our wedding, the towels were a gift and that brilliant shower curtain was a steal from Goodwill... $2.00 and I adore it. My mom and I painted the wall over the shower a coordinating green and I got the bath mats at walmart.

This room is what i like to call the multi - purpose room... because otherwise it's name would be super long. It's an office/guest room/ craft room and all in all busy space. But aside from our master it's my favorite place to be. The decoration is the strangest mix match of our tastes that it makes me laugh sometimes at how it doesn't go together at all but we make it work.

we've got the futon for sitting/sleeping

the TV corner... where i have my craft stuff hiding everywhere

the guest bed... for sleeping

my desk... for school work (my mom's dad and grandpa built this with their own hands and it is one of my prized possessions. It was my papa's then my mama's and now it's mine. Side note all the paintings in the apartment were done by my amazingly talented Papa as well.)

and our bookshelf... it holds books and so much more.

The biggest challenge I've faced is actually the size of our apartment, or more accurately the size of one particular room in our apartment... the kitchen. The kitchen is a lot smaller than I would like, but hey it's an apartment so you can't always get what you want right! I've tried to combat this problem in a few ways... none of them really worked until one day R suggested that maybe I should just get a shelf for some extra storage and put it in the dining room... Problem solved!
But not really I'm still working on getting some projects done that will hopefully make it feel a little less crowded.

Until Next Time...
Love yall!

Post Wedding Wednesday... Saying Yes to the Dress

So Hi everybody! It's been a long and Crazy month since saying I DO! and there are a few more posts that I had really wanted to share about the whole Wedding Planning/Marriage process so I've decided that for the next three week's I'll do a Post Wedding Wednesday to wrap up my thoughts on the matter and tell you all a little about some pretty fun/ pretty terrifying things!

Here goes my first one... Dress Shopping is the bane of my existence and I am so glad that I will never have to buy a wedding dress again!

Lets start with how hard it is to find a dress that looks right on me... I'm 5'10" and a good bit overweight, with the misfortune of being one of those women who carry all their weight in unfortunate places (e.g. my belly... ladies you know what i'm talking about???) What I wanted more than anything was a dress that made me feel beautiful, didn't make me look like I was pregnant, and didn't cost an arm and a leg... Easier said than done!

I went to David's Bridal where the staff was so helpful, but my first appointment didn't go so well. I took my MOH's with me and they were great but the dresses I tried on didn't suit me and I learned a very important lesson... WHITE IS NOT MY COLOR... well white dresses aren't my color anyway. I have extremely pale skin and the white dresses I tried on made me look practically transparent. I was not a fan. (Here are some of the losers... but not the worst dresses I tried, believe me these are the better options)

The second trip I had researched and done a lot of looking and went with one particular dress in mind, I knew what i didn't like and I thought I knew what I did. This time I took R's mama with me and I tried on exactly one dress.... Mine

It was perfect and very much the dress I had hoped it would be!
and On August 9, 2014 I got to wear it down the aisle to marry my best friend!

So much... and yet nothing

It's been on long and crazy first month of marriage for me and my Mr.! That is for sure!
One month ago today we got married

the next day we left on our honeymoon

as soon as we stepped foot back on american soil we had to attend not one, but two wedding for family/friends in the same day

Then we went our separate ways (so to speak I currently live in Columbia for school and he's back home for work so we're once again doing the long distance thing... I like to call it long distance with rings... ) so that I could start back to school.

The plan was he would come home and be with me on Tuesday nights and weekends when he was off work... but of course Life happened.

While we were on our honeymoon R's stepdad (who runs the chip and snack route R bought for him while R runs a bread route so he can have more time home with me) ran over his little toe with the thing they use to get the chips and crackers from the truck to the store, it caused a blood blister but I guess he didn't really think anything of it.

Fast forward to two weeks later, we're home and I'm looking forward to my first tuesday visit from my husband and I get a phone call from mama-in-law telling me that his stepdad is in the hospital and will probably have to have his toe amputated.... well there goes seeing my husband that tuesday, or any tuesday until his stepdad is back on his feet (pun totally intended) because now R is running the chip route. Needless to say I'm getting pretty lonely here in the big city without my country boy but he'll be home this weekend so I at least have that to look forward too.

Well that's whats been going on in my life lately.... so much and yet Nothing!
